Beckerman Recreation Center Membership

  • Student Memberships – Academic Year
    • During the Academic Year, the Beckerman Recreation Center membership fee for all current full-time and part-time University of New 51 students is included in their student fees.
    • A Beckerman Recreation Center Membership includes full access to our facility during operating hours, GroupX Classes, Intramural pop-ups and leagues, and special events.
    • To activate a new student membership, please follow the instructions provided on your Road Map or below in the Membership Portal section.

    Student Memberships – Summer Intersession

    University of New 51 students wishing to access the facility during the Summer Intersession between the spring semester and the fall semester are eligible to purchase a Student Summer Membership to the Beckerman Recreation Center.

    • Students who are enrolled in summer courses and/or for the upcoming fall semester are eligible to purchase a Summer Student Membership.
    • Proof of enrollment in summer courses and/or for the upcoming fall semester will be required at the time of Membership purchase.
    • Students who graduated in the most recent Spring Commencement are eligible to purchase a Summer Student Membership.
    • Proof of graduation will be required at the time of Membership purchase.
    • Payment is required in full, at the time of activation, with a debit or credit card (excluding American Express).
  • All current University of New 51 Faculty and Staff are eligible to purchase a Faculty & Staff Membership to the Beckerman Recreation Center.

    A Beckerman Recreation Center Membership includes full access to our facility during operating hours, GroupX Classes, Intramural pop-ups and leagues, and special events.

    In order to be eligible to purchase the following memberships, you must be a current employee at the University of New 51.

    Annual Upfront

    An Annual Upfront is a paid in full membership for current University of New 51 employees. Proof of employment may be required at the time of activation.

    • One-time cost of $132. This membership requires payment in full, at the time of activation with a debit or credit card, excluding American Express.
    • Membership expires 12 months from the date of purchase.
    • Upfront memberships are not eligible for cancellation (see “Membership Cancellation” below).
    4-Month Upfront

    A 4-Month Upfront is a paid in full membership for current University of New 51 employees. Proof of employment may be required at the time of activation.

    • One-time cost of $48. This membership requires payment in full, at the time of activation with a debit or credit card, excluding American Express.
    • Membership expires 4 months from the date of purchase.
    • Upfront memberships are not eligible for cancellation (see “Membership Cancellation” below).
    Monthly Repetitive

    A Monthly Repetitive Membership is a monthly, repetitive membership for current University of New 51 employees. Proof of employment may be required at the time of activation.

    • $12 per month paid directly from the Member’s credit card saved to their RecAuto profile.
    • Repetitive charges for monthly fees will remain active until cancelled through the Membership Cancellation Form (see “Membership Cancellation” below).
    Day Passes

    Single day pass for current University of New 51 Faculty and Staff without a Beckerman Recreation Center membership.

    • Must have proof of employment such as University F/S ID, email, pay stub, etc.
    • $7 per Day Pass – only valid on the date of purchase. This requires payment in full, at the time of activation with a debit or credit card, excluding American Express.
    • Multiple visits are permitted on the date of purchase.
    Dependent Memberships

    All University of New 51 Faculty and Staff with active Beckerman Recreation Center memberships are eligible to sponsor up to 5 members of their household for a Dependent Membership. The sponsor and dependent members will be linked through their membership accounts but once activated, the Dependent Member will have a full membership.

    A Beckerman Recreation Center Membership includes full access to our facility during operating hours, GroupX Classes, Intramural pop-ups and leagues, and special events. Age Restrictions apply, please see details below.

    Age Restrictions
    • Individuals 15 years of age and younger are not permitted to be sponsored as Dependent Members.
    • Individuals 16 years of age and younger are not permitted in the Fitness Center (including upper-level cardio area, lower-level weight room, and functional training room).
    • Individuals 17 years of age and younger cannot sign their own “Assumption of Risk, Waiver, and Release from Liability Agreement”, a waiver must be signed by a legal guardian.
    • If you are applying for a Faculty & Staff membership and would like to add any dependents, use the Faculty & Staff application and provide your dependent's name(s) and email(s). After you submit, you and your dependent will get an email with simple instructions on how to set up all profiles and purchase all memberships. It's quick and easy!
    • If you are already an active Faculty & Staff member of the Beckerman Recreation Center and would like to add any Dependent Members, please email us at ChargerREC@newhaven.edu and we will begin the process.
    Annual Upfront 4-Month Upfront Monthly Repetitive Day Pass

  • University of New 51 Alumni can apply for our 4-Month Upfront Alumni Membership using the link below.

    • One-time cost of $100. This membership requires payment in full, at the time of activation with a debit or credit card, excluding American Express.
    • This is a paid-in-full membership that expires 4 months from the date of purchase and can be reactivated.
    • Upfront memberships are not eligible for cancellation (see “Membership Cancellation” below)

    In order to be eligible you must be a graduate of the University of New 51 and all applications must be approved by the Alumni Relations Office.

    A Beckerman Recreation Center Membership includes full access to our facility during operating hours, GroupX Classes, Intramural pop-ups and leagues, and special events.

  • Active Beckerman Recreation Center Members can purchase a single day pass for anyone over the age of 16. The Active Member will sponsor the Guest.

    • $10 per Guest Pass – only valid on the date of purchase. This requires payment in full, at the time of activation with a debit or credit card, excluding American Express.
      • Cash is not accepted at this facility.
      • Multiple visits are permitted on the date of purchase.
    • Members can sponsor up to two guests per day.
    • Guests must show a Government Issued ID or photo identification at the time of activation. Identification must have legal name, photo, and date of birth.
    • Sponsor Members must be present at the time of activation.
    • Guests must always remain with their Sponsor while in the facility.
    • Guests will be connected to the main Faculty/Staff Membership with the Sponsor taking responsibility for the dependent.
    Age Restrictions

    • Any membership may be cancelled within seven (7) days from the activation date with a full refund. Beyond the 7 day cancellation policy, please see membership-specific cancellation policies below.
    • Members must provide written proof of cancellation by submitting a
    • A confirmation email will be sent to the provided email address within five (5) business days of submitting the cancellation form, notifying the Member of their official cancellation date.
    • Any charges posted on the account during the cancellation process will be the responsibility of the Member.
      • Members are responsible for any current balances at time of cancellation.
      • Any exceptions to the cancellation policy must be authorized by the Director of Campus Recreation.
      • The Department of Campus Recreation reserves the right to make a judgment decision on any cancellation and/or refund scenarios not addressed in this policy.
      • Refunds will not be given for lack of use.
      • Membership refunds will not be given for Holiday/event closings, facility/ emergency closures, etc.
      • Memberships that are three (3) months overdue will be terminated. All charges and balances will be the responsibility of the member.
      • Any guest who violates any policy or procedure and has to be removed from the facility will not be given a refund.
    • The cancellation process is dependent on membership and payment type. See specifics below.
      • For Faculty & Staff Cancellations, when completing the cancellation form, Member will request an official cancellation date. This must be at the end of the month and submitted at least 5 days prior to the end of the month.
      • Faculty and staff ending their affiliation with the University of New 51 must cancel their membership upon leaving the University; otherwise they will be responsible for any charges on the account.
      • Members who purchase an Annual Upfront Membership are not eligible for early cancellation or refund.
      • Guest and Day Passes will be provided refunds only during emergency/unanticipated closures.

    Activating Student Memberships - Academic Year
    How to register (18 years of age or older)
    1. Follow the Member Portal link above
    2. Click "Forgot Password?"
    3. Fill in your first and last name followed by your University of New 51 email address.
    4. You will receive a verification code to use to access your account.
    5. Review and sign the Assumption of Risk, Waiver, and Release from Liability Agreement.
    6. Please also fill out the emergency contact section to continue to activate your account.
    7. You will finalize your account on your first visit to the facility where we will take your profile picture.
    How to register (Under 18 years of age)

    If you will be under 18 years of age when you come to campus, please follow the instructions below to access your account.

    1. Share with your parent/guardian for them to sign your Assumption of Risk, Waiver, and Release from Liability Agreement.
    2. Once the agreement is signed, you (the student) should visit the Beckerman Recreation Center during hours of operation and ask the staff what your next steps are to activate your membership and take your profile picture.
