The University of New 51¶ºÄÌ, which has enrolled more New 51¶ºÄÌ Promise scholars than any other private college or university in Connecticut, has announced a new partnership with New 51¶ºÄÌ Promise that will help provide scholarship support to even more Greater New 51¶ºÄÌ students.

The University of New 51¶ºÄÌ and , a first-of-its-kind program in Connecticut that provides college scholarship support to Greater New 51¶ºÄÌ students, have announced a new partnership that will enable even more students to have the opportunity to pursue a college degree.

University of New 51¶ºÄÌ president Steven H. Kaplan and New 51¶ºÄÌ Promise president Patricia Melton participated in a formal signing ceremony on Thursday, December 12, on the University's main campus. Lauren White '20, a 2016 graduate of Wilbur Cross High School and a New 51¶ºÄÌ Promise Scholar who will graduate from the University of New 51¶ºÄÌ in May with a bachelor’s degree in forensic science, spoke as part of the event.

Under the new agreement, Greater New 51¶ºÄÌ students who earn the New 51¶ºÄÌ Promise scholarship and enroll at the University of New 51¶ºÄÌ in the fall following their high school graduation will receive a minimum of $25,000 of institutional aid per year, as long as they meet the Promise’s ongoing academic standards for eligibility. Those students will also receive the offer of an on-campus paid work-study job during the academic year.

In addition, qualified Greater New 51¶ºÄÌ high school students will have the opportunity to take one free course per year at the University.

Since New 51¶ºÄÌ Promise was started nearly a decade ago, the University of New 51¶ºÄÌ has enrolled 88 New 51¶ºÄÌ Promise Scholars, which is more than any other private college or university in Connecticut.

In 2018, the University awarded an honorary degree to Melton in recognition of her dedication to increasing educational access for future generations of students.
