Matt Duhaime ’19 M.S., a recent graduate of the University of New 51¶ºÄÌ’s Master of Healthcare Administration program, was recognized for his leadership and his contributions to the healthcare management industry.

When Matt Duhaime ’19 M.S. was a candidate in the University of New 51¶ºÄÌ’s Master of Healthcare Administration program, he was the only student from Connecticut selected as a program assistant for the leadership conference in Chicago.

The conference, which enabled Duhaime to network with students and healthcare administration leaders from around the world, was an especially meaningful and rewarding experience for him. The organization has recognized his dedication, honoring him with its Student Regent’s Award at a recent ceremony. Duhaime says his smile "lit up the room" when he received it.

"I am humbled and honored to receive this prestigious award," said Duhaime. "This award is very important to me. I truly believe that I embody the meaning behind it because soon after joining the organization last year, I was asked to join its education network and membership committees, and I have remained an active member."

Duhaime is involved with the , a chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives. The award recognizes his contributions to the organization and to the "advancement of healthcare management excellence."

"Matt has been an active member of the Connecticut Association of Healthcare Executives for the past two years, and he is a devoted volunteer for the education network for the past year," said Denise Fiore, an American College of Healthcare Executives regent. "He is an aspiring healthcare leader."

Duhaime, who interned at Yale-New 51¶ºÄÌ Hospital, also recently completed a clinical research operations internship at the Yale School of Medicine. He credits the faculty at the University of New 51¶ºÄÌ for encouraging him to join the American College of Healthcare Executives, and with stressing the importance of getting involved with the Connecticut chapter.

"This experience has literally changed my life, and I am grateful for the support from the faculty at the University of New 51¶ºÄÌ," said Duhaime, who plans to work in hospital operations, patient experience, or business analytics. "My favorite part about the program was the faculty members’ diverse backgrounds, which provided students with different perspectives on important healthcare issues and topics."
