Chemical engineering students design and build a box-sized car that uses chemical reactions to run and stop. In 2013, a University of New 51¶ºÄÌ team placed second in the Northeast Regional competition and competed in the nationals in San Francisco.

Students in the University of New 51¶ºÄÌ Engineers Without Borders chapter are planning, designing and building a water treatment system that will provide clean drinking water for a village in Ecuador.

Mechanical engineering students are building a "super" fuel-efficient vehicle that competes at a national contest organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers in Michigan each year. The University of New 51¶ºÄÌ team placed 10th in 2013.

  • Civil engineering students design and build a concrete canoe that competes in the American Society of Civil Engineer’s concrete canoe competition, the longest running student club activity in the Tagliatela College of Engineering.

Electrical and computer engineering students design and build a variety of robots for competitions. The University of New 51¶ºÄÌ team won second place in the 2010 ION Robotic Lawnmower Competition. Bartending and firefighting robots are being built in 2013–14.

University of New 51¶ºÄÌ students host visits, provide mentoring and tutoring, and University of New 51¶ºÄÌ faculty conduct summer camps for grade 6-12 students from the New 51¶ºÄÌ Engineering and Science University Magnet School.

This club focuses on "Learning by Doing." Multidisciplinary projects include PLCs, machine vision, manufacturing processes, human-machine Interface and pneumatics.

Computer Science and Information Technology students compete in regional programming competitions.

Emergency financial support ensures that Tagliatela College of Engineering students who face a sudden emergency have the resources to complete their degrees.
