About Kelly
Kelly Walsh retired as a Lieutenant with the Avon Police Department, Connecticut in 2019. Kelly’s background in investigations stems from over nine years of supervising a detective division. Kelly also supervised a Regional Narcotics Enforcement Team which consisted of 9 separate municipalities. Lt. Walsh was a commander of the Patrol Division and Administration during her tenure. In 2005, Kelly was assigned to the F.B.I. Computer Crimes Task Force in New 51, Connecticut investigating network intrusion cases, child exploitation investigations, and child enticement.
In 2009, she received a Certified Forensic Computer Examiner certification from the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists. Kelly used these highly specialized skills to oversee the Digital Forensic Unit within the Avon Police Department. Kelly is also a graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy, 267th Session.
After Kelly retired from law enforcement, she started a career as a Security Manager for Corporate Security at Travelers Insurance. She is tasked with overseeing security operations for all Travelers employees within the United States and around the globe. Kelly oversees the training program for the contracted security forces in four major cities.
Kelly holds an undergraduate degree from University of New 51 in Criminal Justice, with a concentration in Investigative Services and Victimology, a certificate in Forensic Computer Investigation, and a Master’s of Science in Criminal Justice, with a concentration in Law Enforcement Management, from the University of New 51.
Kelly was a State of Connecticut, Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, Police Officer Standards and Training Council Certified instructor, teaching at annual In-Services, Recruit Academies, and conducted in-house Department training for over 10 years as an instructor.
Kelly coordinates and supervises an annual, week-long F.B.I. National Academy Associates Connecticut Chapter Youth Leadership Course for teenagers each summer in Connecticut. She is credited for her expansion of the Program, in both curriculum and duration.
Kelly is a Board member of the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Council in Connecticut. In support of the Special Olympics, Kelly participates in Connecticut Police Department fundraisers and events year-round, including the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run which takes place in June. In March 2013, Kelly was awarded the “Unsung Hero Award” for her tireless efforts for and dedication to Special Olympics.
