About Tony

I teach courses in bioinformatics, biostatistics, database design, genomics and computer programming. My teaching philosophy is heavily influenced by my experiences both as a student and as someone with extensive experience in information technology, bioinformatics and data science. The overall goal of my classes is for students to learn how to solve real-world problems, and overcome the typical fears associated with informatics. To reach this goal my students spend most of their time on active learning, using online tools, performing data analysis and creating custom solutions.

Research Interests

Analysis of differential expression using RNA-seq.
Utilizing DNA and RNA-seq to detect infectious organisms in host tissues.
