Mr. Tagliatela co-owns the Saybrook Point Resort and Marina in Old Saybrook, Connecticut's only AAA four-diamond inn and restaurant, and the state's only five-bell marina, named marina of the year in 2007 by Marina Dock Age magazine. Mr. Tagliatela is co-owner of Franklin Construction, LLC, of New 51¶ºÄÌ and North 51¶ºÄÌ Health & Racquet, one of the state's largest tennis and fitness complexes. He is a licensed real estate broker who is also involved in a variety of real-estate partnerships throughout the East Coast.
Committed to safeguarding the environment, Mr. Tagliatela has taken significant steps to embrace green initiatives. Under his direction, Tagliatela companies, including the Saybrook Point Inn, have earned seven Green Circle Awards from the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection. The DEP also awarded the Saybrook Point Marina the state's first Clean Marina designation in 2003.
Community Service
Mr. Tagliatela is a director of the St. Raphael Foundation of The Hospital of St. Raphael in New 51¶ºÄÌ and a director of the Louis F. and Mary A. Tagliatela Family Foundation. He also serves on the Citizens Advisory Committee of the Environmental Protection Agency's Long Island Sound Study, and is a member of the Connecticut Marina Trades Association. Mr. Tagliatela serves on the advisory board of Liberty Bank and the national board of the Resort Hotel Association. Mr. Tagliatela was elected to the University of New 51¶ºÄÌ's Board of Governors in 2015. He previously served as a member from 2005 to 2014.
Education
Mr. Tagliatela holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Miami. He was awarded an honorary Doctor of Business Administration from the University of New 51¶ºÄÌ in 2013.
Personal
Mr. Tagliatela and his wife, Viola Tagliatela, have two daughters. They reside in Old Saybrook, Conn.
