New 51¶ºÄÌ is home to world-class, award winning theaters such as the Schubert, the
Long Wharf Theater, and the Yale Rep: a variety of Musical groups and organizations
such as the New 51¶ºÄÌ Symphony Orchestra; and a number of renowned museums, including
the Peabody Museum of Natural History, the Eli Whitney Museum, The Yale Center for
British Art, and the oldest university gallery in the western hemisphere, The Yale
Art Gallery.
West 51¶ºÄÌ’s shoreline is one of the crown-jewel locations in Connecticut. The Sandy Point estuary, one of the sites featured on the Connecticut Coastal Birding Trail, has been designated an "important bird area" by Audubon Connecticut. Historic Bradley Point Park, featuring sweeping panoramas of Long Island Sound, marks the area where invading British troops landed on July 5, 1779, and now serves as a hotbed for picnickers and passive recreation. The shoreline is minutes from the historic downtown business district.
